Jackie Donald Rhodus - November 22, 2025 - CV Operator

Jackie Donald Rhodus, 70, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at his residence.

He was born in Lancaster, Kentucky on December 23, 1954 to Leo Kenneth and Hallie Virginia (Green) Rhodus. Jack was a 1972 graduate of Garrad County High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for more than six years and continued his commitment through six additional years with the National Guard. A dedicated Master Mason of Lodge #104 F&AM, Jack valued the brotherhood and service it represented. He worked faithfully for twenty years at the Okonite Company, where he was respected for his strong work ethic and steady presence.

He is survived by his wife, Maze (Brinson) Rhodus; his children, Samuel Leo & (Carrie) Rhodus of Florida, Jeremy Hadden & (Kristie) Rhodus of Georgetown, Christopher Ryan Rhodus of Georgia, and Nicholas Martin & (Becky) Rhodus of Danville; his step-children, Mindy & (Jerry) Miller of Burnside, Jenny Cook & (Eddie McQueary) of Burnside, and Doug & (Jennifer) Bray of Strunk, KY; his brother, Dr. Nelson Leo Rhodus of St. Paul, Minesota; his sister, Rebecca Sue Rhodus of Lexington, KY; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; his previous wife, Suzanne Hadden of Lexington, KY; a special friend, Ted Tolar; and his special pet companion, Juliet.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Wendall Green Rhodus; and a grandchild.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 in the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. David Hawk and Dr. Nelson Leo Rhodus officiating.

Burial will be at Mill Springs National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time for services.

Military Honors will be performed by the Patriot Guard Riders of KY and The American Legion Post #38.

In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy to take form in donations to God's Helping Hands.

Mark Taylor - October 1, 2025 - Maintenance  Mechanic

Mark Taylor passed away on October 1, 2025 following a long illness. He was born on February 15, 1958 and grew up in Booneville, KY.
He spent most of his adult life with his family in Jackson County, KY. He was a machinist and woodworker by trade. He was a humble man with a kind soul. He was a man of simple tastes who did not seek meaningless adulation. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 43 years, Becca, a son Benjamin, daughter-in law Chelsea, granddaughter Nora Josephine, and other close family and friends.
In keeping with his humble life private services were held on Saturday, October 4th with his son speaking.

Delmar Lee Sewell, age 68, of Pea Ridge Road in Irvine, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025, at his home following a short illness. He was born May 22, 1957, in Madison County and was the son of the late John Floyd and Hallie Graham Sewell. He was a retired Okonite employee and had lived in Estill County all his life.
He is survived by:

2 daughters: Deidra (Justin) Roberts - Estill Co.
Elizabeth Sewell -   Estill Co.
1 sister: Barbara Strong - Tennessee
2 brothers: Tony (Donna) Sewell - Madison Co.
Kenny (Kay) Sewell - Madison Co.
5 grandchildren: Jade Roberts, Jolie Roberts, Shay Isaacs, Lyla Reeves, and Paige Reeves
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 21, 2 PM at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Rose and Bro. Justin Padgett officiating. Burial will be at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Monday from 6 to 9 PM.

Gerald Joseph Nehila - June 23, 2025 - CV Helper

Gerald Joseph Nehila, 77, passed away on June 23, 2025 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
Gerald was born on August 30, 1947 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, and was the son of Jospeh and Sophie Mazur Nehila, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a retired machine operator with Okonite Cable in Richmond and was a faithful member of Linden Street Baptist Church. Gerald enjoyed woodworking, classic cars, and cigars. He was a dog-lover and loved taking care of his lawn.

Survivors include: two sons, Gerald Nehila of Richmond and James (Robin) Nehila of New Jersey; three grandchildren, Amy (Martin Huffer) Nehila of Richmond, Samuel (Jon) Nehila and Nicholas Nehila of New Jersey; one great-grandchild, Benjamin Huffer; and three siblings, Kenneth Nehila, Richard Nehila, and JoAnn Hankins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Ruthann Nehila; a grandson, Kyle A. Nehila; and a brother, Ronald Nehila.

A funeral service for Gerald Nehila will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Michael Barnes officiating.
Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: Jerry Nehila, Jimmy Nehila, Martin Huffer, and Jeff Neal.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Compassionate Care Center, 350 Isaacs Lane, Richmond, Ky 40475.

Larry Adams - April 18, 2025 - CLX Operator

Larry Adams, age 76, of Lancaster, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 18, 2025, at Baptist Health in Richmond, Kentucky. 
Born Saturday, December 11, 1948, in Garrard County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Lawrence & Virginia Mae Simpson Adams.  Larry was the widower of the late Brenda Cornelius Adams, whom he married Saturday, August 19, 1967, and preceded him in death Sunday, October 30, 2022. 
Larry was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran and retired from the Okonite Company in Richmond.  Larry loved his family, especially his grandchildren.  Larry was of the Pentecostal faith and loved to cook.

Larry leaves behind one son, Christopher Adams (Jeanette) of Perryville, Kentucky; one daughter, Patricia Adams of Lancaster;
seven grandchildren, Kristopher Adams (Taylor), Andrew Adams (Sarah), Kristen Aranda (Manny), Adam Ramirez, Rogelio “Roro” Ramirez, Cody Adams, and Rebekah Adams;
eight great-grandchildren, Lilly Adams, Kinley Adams, Wyatt Aranda, Selena Aranda, Neveah Hope Adams, Warren Woodrow Adams, Harley Adams, and Brayden Aranda;
one brother, Jimmy K. Adams of McKinney, Kentucky;
three sisters, Betty Jane Cornelius (Billy Joe) of Mitchellsburg, Kentucky, Marie Anna Sargent of Danville, Kentucky, and Peggy Adams of Lancaster;
and numerous other extended family members and friends who mourn his passing. 

In addition to his wife and parents, Larry was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Adams; and three sisters, Deloris Lee Adams, Sue Barbara Anderson, and Jeannie Creech.

A Public Visitation will be held 10AM-12PM Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Fox & Friend Funeral Home. 

A Public Funeral Service will be held 12PM Tuesday, at the funeral home.  Bro. Vernon Willard will officiate the service.

James Danny VanWinkle - February 2, 2025 - Janitor

James Danny VanWinkle age 70, passed away Sunday Feb. 2, 2025 at his home in Berea. JD was a 40 plus year employee of Okonite Cable, he was born in Berea and raised in Jackson County Kentucky to the late James Leslie and Minnie Campbell VanWinkle. JD was also preceded in death by his siblings: Gladys Faye Northern, Ronald Lee VanWinkle, Aliene Whittaker, Beulah Marie VanWinkle, Carol D Ballinger, his brothers-in-law: Arnold ‘Buddy’ Whittaker, Everett Myrel Ballinger, Walter Earl Ballinger, and a nephew Aaron ‘Bo’ VanWinkle.

JD is survived by his children: Regina (Shannon) Phillips, and Troy (Vicki) Coffey, his grandchildren: Sebrina Coffey, Kaytlin Phillips, and honorary grandchildren: Abbi Phillips, and Bella Phillips, his siblings: Deloris Ballinger, Eddie VanWinkle, Larry (Pearl) VanWinkle, Joyce (Benny) Gatliff, and Imogene Isaacs.

Funeral services will Be Saturday February 8, 2025 at 1 pm at Lakes Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Martin, and Rev Grant Martin officiating, burial will take place in the VanWinkle Cemetery on Cave Springs Road Jackson County Kentucky.

Pallbearers will be Troy Coffey, Time Miles, John Obregon, Junior Northern, Benny Gatliff, David Thacker, Mark Broaddus, and Rickie Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be Lonnie Abney, Dean ‘Radio’ Tennant, Goble Rogers, Clarence Isaacs, Blake Abney, and Kenny Jones.

Visitation will be Friday Feb. 7, 2025 from 6-9 pm at Lakes Funeral Home, Berea.
