Raymond “Ray Boo” Tompkins 72, husband of Sue Warner Tompkins, passed away October 13, 2023, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Kentucky, surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. Ray was born in Berea, Kentucky on August 12, 1951, to the late Frank and Imogene Smith Tompkins of McKee, Kentucky. He was a graduate of Jackson Co. High School and a member of McKee Reformed Church. He lived in McKee most of his life till he moved to Berea in 2008. His work career began at the early age of twelve years old, when he worked for his grandpa Jim Tompkins, founder of the Jackson County Sun newspaper in McKee, Ray was very proud of that, and thirty-five years for the Okonite Cable Company in Richmond, Kentucky.
Ray is survived by his wife Sue, son, Ramey Jack Tompkins of Berea, Kentucky, daughters, Kristy Fortney (Wendell) of Waco, Kentucky, Candy Hampton (John) of London, Kentucky, Cassie Bowling of Beattyville, Kentucky, stepdaughter, Denise Ballard (Mike) of Richmond, Kentucky, stepson, Ronnie Rice Jr. (Lisa) of Berea, Kentucky, Sisters, Brenda Hays (Dennis) of McKee, Kentucky, Jenny Lovins (Jim) of Berea, Kentucky, brothers, Benny Tompkins (Carolyn) of Lexington, Kentucky, Roger Tompkins of Berea, Kentucky, and John Tompkins of McKee, Kentucky. Several grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, and nephews, also survive.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his mother-n-law Shirley Warner and brother-n-law John Warner.
Funeral services will be 12:00PM Wednesday October 18, 2023, at Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Ramah Shoopman and good friend Larry Smith officiating.

Donald Jesse Keaton - October 6, 2023 - Mechanical Craftsman
Donald Jesse Keaton, age 60, of the Union City Community of Richmond, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.
Mr. Keaton, the son of the late Robert and Yoshie Yarimizu Keaton, was born in Madison County on October 11, 1962. He retired from Okonite as a Mechanical Craftsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood crafting and working on his cars. Music and cooking on
his smoker were also among his favorite pastimes.
On November 23, 2016, Jesse united in marriage to Susan Bierkamp Keaton who survives.
He is also survived by one daughter: Kaitlin Keaton,
two stepchildren: Jessica (& Danny) Gainey and Kelley (& Dickie Wayne) Anderson II,
one sister: Ellen Keaton Ballard,
seven grandchildren: Dakota Gainey, Austin Johnson, Savannah Gainey, Kaitlyn Anderson, Dicky Wayne Anderson III, Brooklyn Anderson and Brayden Anderson,
one great grandson: Colton Stamper Gainey,
one niece: Lauren Ballard,
three nephews: Mark Ballard, Joshua Thomas and Jacob Thomas
and special friends: John Banks and Roger Abney.
Mr. Keaton was also preceded in death by his brother, Charlie Keaton and his best friend, Mike Clark.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. George Mullins officiating.
Private burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery.

Ronald Ray Clark - September 2, 2023 - Material Handler
Ronald Ray Clark, 79, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Baptist Health- Richmond after a long illness.
Ronald was born on September 16, 1943 at Foxtown (Jackson County), Kentucky, and was the son of William H, and Effie Fowler Clark, both of whom preceded him in death.
Ronald had a strong work ethic and had worked at many different jobs, often simultaneously, throughout his career. He worked for Westinghouse, Southeast Coal, and Okonite, as well as running his own businesses, including hauling lime and operating Madison Lighting. He was also a certified EMT. Ronald loved his farm on Concord Road, and spent many enjoyable hours taking care of his land. In retirement his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to whom he was lovingly known by several different names including “Papaw”, “Sunshine”, and “Old Man”.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Claudia Martin Clark; two children, Carol Clark Willoughby (Bobby) and William Ray Clark (Winona); five grandchildren, Lauren Gold (Evan), Brent Willoughby (Hannah), Mariah Allen (Nick), Mikki Clark, and Madison Willoughby; six great-grandchildren, Brayden, Andy, Owen, Chloe, Clayton, and Samuel; one sister, Beverly Fultz (Bill); numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Lynch.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Leigh Ann Maynard officiating.
Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday.

Wilma Jo “DaDa” Parsons, age 84, of South Madison Avenue in Irvine, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a long illness. She was born December 20, 1938, in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Oscar and Effie Clem Cooper. She was a retired Okonite Cable Company employee and a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a Kentucky Colonel and a past president of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Parsons, and is survived by:

Wendell Lee Pitts, age 73, of Richmond, KY departed this life Friday, March 17th at the VA in Lexington, KY. Wendy was born May 7, 1949 in Berea, KY to Gladys Bryant Pitts and the late Joe E. Pitts, Jr.
Wendy graduated from Garrard County High School. He entered active duty with the United States Navy May 12, 1969 and was honorably discharged July 17, 1970. Wendy worked alongside his father as a brick mason for many years. He also farmed in Valley View and retired from Okonite Cable.
Wendy was a lifetime member of the Peacemaker’s Motorcycle Club where he participated in many charitable events for the community. Wendy loved to travel but above all loved to spend time with his family and friends.
In addition to his mother Gladys, survivors include:

Daughter: Geri Pitts Harrison and husband Mike of Irvine, KY

He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Joe E. Pitts and brother Don Pitts.
Visitation will be at Lakes Funeral Home, Berea, KY on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 11:00-1:00 with services at 1:00. Burial will be at Robinson Cemetery, Cartersville, KY.

Walter Douglas Hall, age 69, of Patsy Road in Irvine, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at his home following a long illness. He was born June 26, 1953, in Dayton, Ohio and was the son of Delilah Smyth Hall and the late Lloyd Hall. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a retired Okonite employee and was a past president of the IBEW Local 2356.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Kay Shouse Hall.

John William Thomas Sr., 71 who is known to many as “Bill” and father of Rachelle (Alphonso) Nichols, Asherra Thomas, John Thomas, Jr., and Tremayne Thomas.
Passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023 from an extended illness at Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis, TN.
John was born on Monday, May 21, 1951 in Winchester, KY. from the union of the late Asher and Anna Bosley Thomas.
In addition to his children, John is survived by his ten; grandchildren, and two; great-grandchildren.
Also left to honor John’s memories is his brother, Rev. Michael (Deborah) Thomas.
Besides his parents, John is preceded in death by a grandson and a sister, Sharon Gipson.

Charles Daniel Keaton, 61, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Baptist Health in Richmond, Kentucky. He was the husband of Elsie Tipton.Charles was born on September 6, 1961 in Osaka, Japan, and was the son of Robert Daniel Keaton and Yoshie Yarimizu Keaton. He was a Boiler operator at Okonite Cable and was of Baptist faith. He was also a Navy Veteran.
Survivors include:
his wife, Elsie Tipton;
two stepsons, Joshua Thomas and Jacob Thomas both of Washington State;
one brother, Jesse Keaton (Susan) of Richmond, KY;
one sister, Ellen Keaton of California;
two nieces, Kaitlin Keaton of Ohio and Lauren Ballard of California;
one nephew, Mark Ballard of California;
two step grandchildren, Jesi Leonard and Jasmine Lee and his beloved cat, Sabrina.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
